It is no longer news that the Kaduna State Government under the dynamic leadership of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai achieved a major feat by being the first in Sub – Saharan Africa to use the electronic voting system. By taking this courageous and bold step, the trail-blazing and innovative Governor has etched his name in gold as a champion of electoral transparency and integrity.
The electronic system has increased efficiency and voter participation. Voters are now assured that their votes would count. It is therefore a technical knockout for vote riggers. The election landscape in Kaduna can never be the same again.
We must focus fully and firmly on the forthcoming Bye-Elections in Kaduna South, Chikun, Jaba, and Zangon Kataf. We must never rest on our oars. Campaign vigorously to ensure massive victories. I urge you to maintain the tempo of issues – based campaigns. Endeavour to address issues. Tell the people what you will do for them when voted into office. Make it clear that selfless service and accountability shall be your watchwords. Please use temperate language in your campaigns.
On that note, I would like to point out that the judiciary has ruled that there will be no more election in Kajuru Local Government which automatically affirms the APC candidate, Cafra Caino as the substantial winner of the recently held election.
As we continue to celebrate the record breaking electronic system introduced by Governor El-Rufai, we must equally work assiduously to sustain and refine it so that it would become a model in electoral transparency and integrity. In no time it will be replicated across Nigeria and Africa.
I want to appreciate the good people of Kaduna State, APC executives, members and supporters as well as the Kaduna State Judiciary, our legal team on the Kajuru election matter for their continuous efforts in making sure that the right thing is done.
I urge everyone to desist from politics of bitterness and violence. Let’s preach peace and unity for a progressive Kaduna State.
