FAKE TWEET: ‘The Work Of Mischief Makers Who Are not Happy About Our Progress’

My attention has been drawn to a FAKE TWEET attributed to me which has been widely circulated on the social media about a negative comment on President Buhari. I want to state unequivocally that I made no such comment. The general public is advised to disregard the said tweet. It is fake news at its worst. It is the handiwork of mischief makers jittery at the progress the Uba Sani Campaign Organisation has made within a very short time.

Our investigation has revealed that a desperate politician jittery at the possibility of 2019 being his date with political oblivion mobilised his social media “rats” to doctor a statement I made in order to cast me in bad light. But their evil machinations are dead on arrival.

Anybody who knows me will attest to the fact that I am totally committed to the success of the President Buhari Administration and the renewal of his mandate in 2019. I support him based on my conviction that he loves Nigeria passionately and is putting all his efforts to ensure that Nigeria becomes great again.

My Twitter account was opened in 2012. It only became active in 2017. The doctored screenshot of a tweet dated ‘Feb 7, 2013’ is therefore a poorly done and not well thought through hatchet job. In their desperate bid to cause mischief they forgot that Nigerians are quite discerning and not every cheap blackmail can escape their critical scrutiny.

In addition, the profile photo used in the screenshot has never been my profile photo at any point in time. The only photo I have used in over a year is that of myself and Governor Nasir El-Rufai seated inside a train.

I am glad the alleged culprits are known and measures are being taken to address the issue. I remain committed to serving my people in the best way possible.

Fake news and its perpetrators have no place in a decent society like ours. Social media is a democratic platform meant to give voice to the voiceless. It is a veritable platform for inclusive governance. It is an avenue for collating and distilling the views, aspirations and concerns of the people. Unfortunately anti democratic elements are fast turning it into a platform for blackmail and misinformation. We must join forces to checkmate these elements. I sincerely thank you all for understanding.
