I am exceedingly grateful to my colleagues, Distinguished Senators of the 9th National Assembly, for overwhelmingly supporting my motion to investigate one of us, Abbo Elisha, the senator representing Adamawa north, for allegedly assaulting a woman.
Given the avowed determination of the current Senate to truly work for Nigerians, it became expedient for me to move the motion for the probe of the very shocking and repulsive assault on the lady after Nigerians from all walks of life roundly decried the action of the Senator after a video clip of the incident was made public.
I am particularly grateful to the President of the Senate, Distinguished Senator Ahamd Lawan for insisting on fair hearing hence the setting up of a bi-partisan ad hoc committee led by the respected Senator Sam Egwu to investigate the incident and report back to the
It is a new Senate. With some of us as members, it would not be business as usual. The views and sensibilities of Nigerians that elected us into office, must now guide and guard our every move as members of the National Assembly.
